Request for the release of Mr. Nasser Zarafshan and all the political-ideological prisoners in Iran

All those who have signed this request call on all the freedom- loving people, international institutions and human rights organisations to put every possible pressure on the Islamic regime and use all their means to help the release of all the political and ideological prisoners in Iran.

As you all know, according to all the reports published by Human Rights organisations, Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International and Reporters without Borders, human rights abuse in Iran is widely practised by the regime. Arresting political activists, students and members of media is only a small fractin of everyday relaities in Iran. At the moment the pressure put on the prisoners has increased to unimaginable levels and the life of many of them is in immediate danger.

Mr. Nasser Zarafshan, a prominent thinker,writer, translator and lawyer of the families of those who were the victims of state terrorism in 1998, was arrested and sentenced to 5 years because of his works in finding facts and revealing the role of the regime in masterminding the terrors and killings of the opposition figures. Mr. Zarafshan’s life is in great danger. His health, due to the pressures, tortures and terrible conditions of prisons, has deteriorated to an alarming rate.

We demand his and all the political prisoners immediate and unconditional release from their abominable and inhumane conditions.
